I wrote a simple example for a way to get the scrolling to work correctly:. The hard part is that you have to get the queries just right.
As is, you're limited to a record offset, so if you want more, you'll need to keep track of some other value, such as the CreatedDate or Id field, which I outlined in a nearly eight-year-old answer. Just load the first X records, and then query another X records using the record Id as the "offset":. If you refresh the page it will start again from the URL that the user is in. That is expected. That is how it should work.
When I visit a page, I will scroll down until last post, after which infinite scroll should work, ideally. But the case when I modify the file, and visit the site, it will start pagination right away, instead of waiting for me to scroll to the last post.
