Batman why is he a hero

People love Batman comics. The law of supply and demand would therefore say to put out as many as possible.

Now, sometimes, this is a good thing. Some of the greatest comic creators of all time have done some amazing work on comics starring the Dark Knight. However, if one looks at shelves on the DC side of a comic store, there's just way too much Batman stuff. Batman books sell so it sort of makes sense that DC puts out a lot of Batman, but the problem is that they don't put take a chance with other characters.

Plus, it's easy to get burnt out on Batman because there's just so much Batman. One of the great things about Batman is that there are so many stories that can be told about the character. Batman works in just about any type of story. Gritty crime stories, straight superhero tales, even supernatural stories. Not every superhero can work in every type of story.

Superman is a great character, but he doesn't work in certain kinds of stories. Same with Spider-Man or Captain America. Batman, though, can work perfectly for any type of story. The Silver Age was an interesting time for comics. On the one hand, there's the crazy sci-fi stories of the Superman comics that went in all kinds of strange and intriguing directions.

Then you have the Silver Age Batman comics. The Comic Code Authority and the rules it set up put a damper on a lot of Batman stories, so DC tried the same sci-fi approach with Batman. It's not that sci-fi stories don't work with Batman, it's the way they were told.

On top of that, because of Comic Code rules, the grittier crime aspects of the Batman books had to be toned down. Batman Bruce Wayne has lived in the mainstream comic spotlight since the dawn of Superhero Comics.

Making his first appearance way back in Detective Comics 27 , Batman helped kickstart the Superhero genre and continues to be a cash cow for DC to this day. Throughout his history, Batman has teetered on the edge of what it means to be a hero. Often lurking in the shadows, Batman does not go about business in typical hero fashion:.

I challenge you to think about Batman in a different way for just a moment and you may find that you agree with me. A hero needs to have good judgement because stupid decisions could end up killing people. Batman always uses good judgement and thinks a situation through before saving the day.

It is batman's smart good decisions that make him a good hero. Though there are many more qualities i think a super hero should have, I think courage, responsibility, and good judgement are the most important. Batman has saved people in Gotham on hundreds of occasions by having these qualities.
