To make matters worse, even with Radiant, your view of the floor plan is somewhat limited, making it difficult to tell where you are in relation to other staircases. More confusing still, the entrance on the ground floor that you must use is a secret one and must be searched out.
After you cross the poisonous marsh to reach the castle, you will be greeted by powerful monsters. As you battle your way through, you can spot two stairwells down to the lower floor. If you thoroughly investigate both stairwells you will eventually conclude that neither of them leads anywhere.
Now remember the words of the lone wizard on the island in the town of Rimuldar. The trick is to search directly behind the throne, revealing a stairwell that leads to a rather straightforward path down into the castle's dangerous dungeons.
Once you find the correct, secret, entrance to this basement, it is a straight path from the top of the floor, down the left side, and along the bottom to a stairwell that will take you to the second basement level. When you correctly enter this floor from the first basement, you'll travel along a circular pathway that takes you straight down to the next basement.
The center room contains a treasure chest, but to claim it you'll have to go down to Basement 4 before taking the correct stairs back up. If you are successful in finding it, you will be rewarded with the ultimate weapon of Dragon Warrior: Edrick's Sword, the fabled sword that according to legend is the only one capable of cutting though the Dragon Lord's iron-like flesh.
It's actually just a normal sword, albeit the most powerful one in the game. You will arrive on this floor from the staircase at the top right. There are two other accessible staircases that lead up, but they simply loop around to one another. Your only other choice is the down staircase on the left side of the level. You will travel back through the central part of this floor when you find the correct path leading to Edrick's Sword in Basement 2. To get it, enter into the Castle and walk directly behind the throne and search.
A staircase will appear. Go down the stairs to the next floor. Follow the path to the only staircase on that floor. On the next floor do the same thing. There is only one staircase that you can reach. The next floor is more complicated. Start by going to the right as far as you can, then go down and take the first right. When you can't go right any further, go up until you can't go up any further.
Now go left until you can't go left any further. Then go down and take the last staircase. At the next floor, work your way to the bottom right hand corner. Now go up until you see a passageway.
Do not go down this one. Instead, go left for two steps and then down along the other side of that wall. You will see a staircase going up. Follow the path until you reach another staircase, as there is only one on this path.
Go down the stairs and you will easily see the next staircase to take. On this floor there is only one staircase, but the path is longer. When you go down the next staircase, you will see a treasure chest. After all, the sword's strength is 40 in both games, so it didn't lose anything. Also, even though it is the strongest sword in Alefgard, it stands to reason that when you multiply the size of the known world by four there may exist something stronger in those previously unknown regions.
User Info: Roundman. I've mentioned this a few times, but I've always thought that they should've allowed the PoC to equip Erdrick's sword. After all, PoC is also Erdrick's heir. Allowing PoC to equip it would actually give the sword a purpose in this game, as it would be the PoC's strongest weapon. The way things stand now, I rarely use the sword in a play through. User Info: zenithian Agreed, even if he does handle himself quite nicely with a Falcon Sword at higher levels, a hand-me-down type weapon in Erdrick's sword would be great for him so you could have at least two capable fighters through the latter half of the game.
Although the Falcon Sword is a great weapon for the PoC, it takes a long time to build up gold when you don't cheat. His second best weapon, the spear, just isn't that great once you get the ship.
Erdrick's Sword would've made a great stop gap weapon for him, actually creating a reason to bother to go and get it. Most of the time, though, I skip it entirely or I get it after having procured the Dragon Killer, rendering it useless. User Info: Esquire. I've also thought that the PoC should be able to use Erdrick's Sword. The equipment in Mobius Final Fantasy. Dragon Quest Wiki. Namespaces Page Discussion. More More. Page actions Read Edit History.
